Image assets

  1. Creative or background image

Desktop imagery

This is a banner image that will disappear completely when the conversation window opens. It only will be visible for 2.5 seconds.

Ensure this is high-resolution.

Mobile imagery

This is a background image that will remain visible when the chat opens and the header transitions in. Therefore keep the image clean to prevent duplication when the header and image both have logos.

Safe area for background image

Mobile app interstitial ads are responsive creatives and dynamically adjust to devices of various sizes, so the creative background image borders may get cropped. We recommend avoiding putting any critical content around the edges (15%) of the background image.

Note: Your avatar should represent your brand in some way, so the user knows from whom the response is coming. This can be an element of your logo or brand icon, a character/cartoon, etc. but cannot be left blank or removed.

Privacy policy (URL)

For legal reasons, we need your privacy policy URL. Please do not provide third-party seller's privacy policy link, as this should be the company receiving the chat responses. This is stored in the header menu.

Learn more (URL)

When users click "Learn more" in the menu at the top of the post-click chat experience, they will be linked to the website you provide, which should be related to the campaign, product, or the homepage of the brand.

General guidelines and considerations

  • The background images can come in different forms: either brand or product photography or elements from an existing campaign.
  • When building the conversational agent, the welcome message comes in from the bottom of the creative. Be aware this message may cover parts of the background image.
  • We recommend using high-res images where possible.
  • Images and content must adhere to Google Ads policies.
